I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Michigan. I enjoy working with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and have particularly focused my career on working with individuals from underserved communities. I have 20+ years of experience in outpatient, inpatient, military and veteran systems of care. I provide three primary services for adults seeking assistance: assessment, intervention/therapy, and consultation.
Assessment: I began my career focused on assessment of attentional, developmental and cognitive issues (ADD/ADHD, autismand related concerns, dementia), and continued into the areas of personality and functional evaluations. I look forward to continuing serving Veterans, first-responders, healthcare workers and others with pre-employment, fitness for duty and disability examinations or assistance. I also provide assessment for persons considering gender/sex reassignment interventions. Lastly assessment can at times augment or clarify diagnoses.
Therapy: My psychotherapy style is eclectic. I utilized various techniques including CBT, interpersonal, and problem-solving approaches. I actively encourage individuals to establish personal goals and identify existing strengths to resolve issues or achieve goals. Often times I enjoy hearing clients remind themselves of ways of coping they have had for many years, that went dormant, unnoticed or underused in addressing current concerns.
Consultation: At times therapists or individuals request evaluation to clarify their personal understanding of difficulties and often co-occurring problems. These consultative assessments are done as 1-3 session (including testing) to aide the individual and his/her primary provider in informing care.
