Helping you feel better is an honor Dr. Dougherty takes seriously. She acknowledges that the journey through pain is difficult, so she compassionately and carefully guides you on the path to healing.
Dr. Dougherty is known for her empathy and for treating each individual as the unique person he or she is. She has worked with children as young as three years old and with adults into their 80s.
With in-depth training in a variety of trauma techniques, she walks with you through the process of attaining wellness. Dr. Dougherty considers working with children an especially precious gift and she will gradually lead them (and their parents, if need be) through healing and growth.
Integrating faith, especially Christianity, rounds out the trifecta of her niches. Understanding a person’s world view through this lens allows her to use an additional “tool belt.” Nothing is ever forced on anyone, however. Dr. Dougherty has supported persons from all backgrounds and areas of diversity.
Difficult life transitions and chronic pain are also areas in which she has had success, as well as most things from anxiety-to-depression, to PTSD and school problems. Consulting with parents and teachers, when requested, is also another area of experience she finds helpful.
Dr. Dougherty completed graduate school while married and with two school-aged children at home, so she brings much life experience to each situation. She graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology with a Master’s Degree in 2004 and a Doctorate in 2007; she has been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 2013.
