Introduction

Dr. Travis Goldwire is a Clinical Psychologist who works primarily with adolescents, adults, and couples and has been working in the field of psychology for more than 10 years in both academic and clinical pursuits. He holds a master’s and doctorate in clinical psychology from Wayne State University. He completed his psychology residency through the United States Air Force, where he served 4 years as an active-duty officer. It is through this experience that he gained a greater appreciation for the needs of military service members and has devoted much of his time to the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Additionally, Dr. Goldwire has a wide variety of experience in different clinical settings including university counseling centers, community mental health, as well as outpatient medical facilities. He also has experience working with patients who present with a wide array of concerns including anxiety and depression, general stress, family issues, LGBTQ and sexual identity concerns, academic and occupational difficulties, as well as race and social justice perspectives. Dr. Goldwire has expert-level knowledge in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and focuses on approaches to help patients identify areas of their lives that are not functioning optimally and devising a step-by-step plan with detailed strategies to help improve the overall quality of life. In addition to CBT, Dr. Goldwire has experience in other forms of therapy including PE/CPT (for trauma), behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness strategies, and strengths-based approaches. He uses many of these techniques in his work with patients. Dr. Goldwire believes that building a strong connection with patients, with a focus on collaboration and self-determination, is a must and really enjoys helping patients to solve their problems and giving them tools to be successful in the future.
